Travelling to Brittany via Brittany Ferries, Plymouth - Roscoff?

If you're heading south or south-west from Roscoff to anywhere in Central Brittany or beyond, the chances are you will pass through Pleyber-Christ, just south of Morlaix, on the D785. It's a good opportunity to find the Red Dog guide you need at the newsagents 'Le Coin Fumeur', on the left in the Super U service road. They hold the full Red Dog range in stock, displayed in the island unit facing the counter.

The new Red Dog guide, 'Brittany's Green Ways' is now available on line and very shortly (if not already) will be in specialist retail outlets in the UK and in librairies in Brittany.

'Brittany's Green Ways' by G.H. Randall (author of 'Walks in Morbihan' and 'Walks in Côtes d'Armor') is a guide to the network of former railway lines and canal towpaths that have been brought back into use as long distance cycle routes, free of motorised traffic.
The guide maps the major part of the current network of Green Way routes, shows how Green Ways integrate with roads, logs the facilities in place, shows the liaisons with other leisure routes and circuits for walkers and cyclists, and provides a directory of overnight accommodation.
A separate chapter devoted to the railways that are the origin of much of this network has been written by Wendy Mewes.

NEW BOOK

Steve Leighton, who contributed drawings to Wendy Mewes' Discovering the History of Brittany, is also a talented writer. Red Dog Books is very pleased to have published a collection of his short stories (illustrated with more of his delicate pen & ink drawings) under the title Tales of Kaph. His stories regularly win prizes in literary competitions and one of the stories in this collection won the Canongate Prize for new writing in 2001. More information on the Red Dog Books website.

The Red Dog Books website has just been updated again.
It is now even easier to navigate - on the opening page (www.reddogbooks.com) there are pictures of the book covers: just click on any one of these to take you to the right page for that book.
Ordering online is a doddle, either from the complete list or from the individual books' pages.
All payments are through Paypal so you can use your credit card or bank debit card in total security. (We don't see any of your really personal data such as credit card number etc.)
Orders are constantly monitored - normally, any order placed before midday will be despatched the same day. Orders are despatched from Brittany by 'book post', which we have found to be pretty reliable and surprisingly fast (although in theory it can take up to a week to England it rarely does).
As we are the publishers we always have our own books in stock - you can order from us knowing there will be no delay while waiting for more stock to arrive.

There are 36 circular walks in "Walks in Côtes d'Armor". They have all been checked out personally by the author and written up with full directions - in English! There's also plenty of background information wherever appropriate in each walk, which helps to make them that much more interesting.

Red Dog Books will shortly have a new up-dated website - watch this space!

A very useful feature that will be included on the new website is a list of stockists where Red Dog's books can be bought. Most of them are in Brittany and here the list is arranged first by département and then by town so you can easily find a stockist near to wherever you are (or will be when you get here).

After a week or so of summery weather in Brittany we're now back to normal March weather - but time marches on and it is officially Spring so thoughts turn to open air markets.

Huelgoat (Finistere) every Thursday morning
and
Callac (Côtes d'Armor) every Wednesday morning
Red Dog Books will be at both these from now until late September

Morlaix on Saturday - Red Dog Books are here throughout the year, but only in the mornings.
